MILITARIZATION AND THE ACADEMY

Henry Giroux has a new book out, The University in Chains, and Inside Higher Ed has an interview with the author today. Giroux uses the phrase “patriotic correctness” in the interview, and I think such a phrase is useful as a play on people’s concerns with “political correctness” as a policing phenomenon. (Slightly off topic, but omg I totally hate those GEICO commercials featuring the “real cavemen” who are offended by the campaign slogan, “So easy a caveman could do it.” It totally trivializes the massive inequalities that exist in our world today that people are trying to challenge.)
